The Brunei Students’ Union in the UK and Eire (BSU) in collaboration with Brunei Religious Officers’ Students Association (BruROSA) hosted the first day of their Outreach Programme 2018 with the theme “Encompassing Your Future: Ignite the Fire Within” at Maktab Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah. The event is intended to motivate the students to work into building their future career paths and prospects, whether it involves higher education or other alternatives, while maintaining a good mental and physical health.
The Brunei Students’ Union In U.K. and Eire recently welcomes the arrival of Cikgu Hjh Rozita Hj Ismail, former Student Welfare Officer, Brunei Student Unit, United Kingdom at Brunei International Airport as she ends her term. She has been holding the position as a Student Welfare Officer since 2016. The new Student Welfare Officer is Cikgu Rahimah Haji Mohiddin and will start he term in August of 2018.
1st August 2018, Berakas – The Brunei Sudents’ Union in the UK and Eire (BSU) took part in the 13th National Youth Day Celebration held at the International Convention Centre, Berakas. Students who attended the event were from the high council of the Brunei Students’ Union in the U.K. and Eire and Brunei Religious Officers Student Association (BruROSA). The theme of the National Youth Day this year is ‘Belia Pemacu Brunei Maju’, focusing on fostering an ecosystem that continuously supports young entrepreneurs.
The Brunei Students’ Union in UK and Eire attended Majlis Bersama Rakyat 2018 at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien. The students who attended were made up of the Brunei Students’ Union in UK and Eire high council, regional executives and society leaders.
The event was an opportunity for Brunei’s overseas students to meet His Majesty, Kebawah Duli Yang Maha Mulia Paduka Seri Baginda Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah and convey their messages and warm wishes to him. The event also showed the unity among Bruneian students in the UK and Eire, not just in their respective regions in the UK, but their homeland as well. This opportunity was possible because of the Ministry of Education, Scholarship Section. The Brunei Students’ Union In U.K. and Eire recently bid farewell to two New Brunei Students Unit Officers; Director of Studies and Student Welfare Officer. Cikgu Pg Asmali @ Pg Ali Shafie bin Pg Hj Abas will be the new Director of Studies and Cikgu Rahimah Haji Mohiddin will be the new Student Welfare Officer. Also in attendance were officers from the Scholarship Department, Ministry of Education as well as family members from both sides.
Our friends at Loughborough Brunei Student Society would like to give the public an oppurtunity to lend a helping hand in lessening the burden of the less fortunate in hopes of bringing about a positive change in their lives. May our good deeds be accepted and rewarded by Allah, The Most Beneficient. 6th July 2018, the Brunei-Republic of Ireland Society (BruÉire) held a Pre-Departure Sharing Session for new students coming to study in the Republic of Ireland. Present at the event were BSU representatives, BruÉire Executive Committee members, and the new students.
The Pre-Departure briefing was given by BruÉire's President 2018/19 (Amirah Sophian) followed by an introduction on BSU by BSU's Information Secretary (Ajrul Mail). The new students include Lorita Lee who will be going to University College Cork, Khalidah Kifli and Lim Wang Tech who will be going to Trinity College Dublin, Bazlin Said and Jonanthan Wong who will be going to the National University of Ireland Galway. We thank everyone for coming and we wish the new students all the very best on their new journey! Recently, the new council of The Brunei Students' Union In U.K. and Eire made a courtesy call with Yang Berhormat Mejar Jeneral (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Scholarship Department, Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam.
The delegation is led by Awangku Mohammad Hisyam Al-Yura bin Pengiran Haji Zainal Abidin, the president of The Brunei Students' Union In U.K. and Eire for 2018/2019 session and accompanied by other members of the councils. During the visits both sides discussed current affairs in the fields of youth and education. The meetings were held at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Education respectively. Also in attendance was Shaimaa’an Nabielah Abdul Rahman, Vice President of Administration and Finance, Syaffina Shahif, Vice President for Regional Coordination, Nurin Najla @ Motia’ah binti Hismawadi, General Secretary and Mohammad Ajrul Bin Haji Mail, Information Secretary. Some of the members of BruSEA and fellow friends got together to celebrate Raya. The members welcome the festive times by hosting open houses and going from one house to another.
