Lufbru Summer Games 2018

On the 17th of August 2018, Bruneian society of Loughborough University, Lufbru organised their 12th iteration of the Lufbru Summer Games, a sports competition mainly targeted at Bruneian students who study in the United Kingdom. The event started off with a netball competition, which is one of the three sports competitions that will be held in the event. This event was sponsored by 20 different companies, including 4 gold sponsors: DST, KFC, Trane Aire and Sejalin (Bang & Olufsen), 1 silver sponsor: Wistaria Thai, and 15 bronze sponsors: Arkitek Rekajaya, Re-Vita (Liqua Health), Ner Dee Café, Seri Bumi Consultant, Superwater Marketing, James Hon Marketing, MRBC, Spin Date, Plus+ Magazine, Casio Corner Brunei, Ashley Furniture Homestore, Jackhan, Loughborough Student Union, Aewon Garment & Embroidery and Nexploit Services.

After the National Anthem and the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, the opening ceremony continued with a short speech by the president of the Lufbru society, Awangku Aiman Zufari bin Pengiran Zaini, followed by a speech by the Guest of Honor, Cikgu Irmawati binti Haji Ahmad.

During the competition, team Hotshots emerged victorious, closely followed by team Stabilo - Brunotts as the runner-up, with team Beezus as the second runner-up . The top scorer of the event was Nur Haziqah Mazlani with a grand total of 48 goals and the MVP award went to Dk Farah Syazana Pg Anak Hj Ya'akob who was also specially rewarded with a Beoplay A2 active speaker sponsored by Bang & Olufsen.

On the 18th and 19th of August, the Lufbru Summer Games will continue with their badminton and futsal competitions respectively.
