"Frame of Mind: The 21st Century Youth"

27th August 2018, Berakas – The Minister of Culture, Youth & Sports, Yang Berhormat Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, attended and gave a welcoming remark at an event organised by the Brunei Students’ Union in the UK and Eire (BSU) which was the 8th Presidential Conference with the theme “Frame of Mind: The 21st Century Youth” at the International Convention Centre (ICC). Invited to the conference were students from local institutions, as well as students studying in the UK and students from other international institutions.
Among the invited guests were His Excellency Richard Lindsay, The British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam, Yang Berhormat Iswandy Bin Ahmad and Yang Berhormat Khairunnisa binti Haji Ash’ari from the Brunei Legislative Council. Another opening remark was made by Ak Mohammad Hisyam Al-Yura bin Pg Hj Zainal Abidin, the President of BSU to officiate the event. The event involved a panel discussion with governmental and non-governmental agencies, discussing important issues that will be centered on employability and entrepreneurship, which the youth of the nation are dealing with today. 

The panelists for the event were Pg Hj Ahmad Fadillah Akbar, Co-Founder & Project Advisor of Projek Bina Ukhwah; Pg Khairi, Founder and CEO of Mindplus Education Pvt Ltd.; Fadli M. Zaini, International Research & Cooperation at Darussalam Enterprise and Cikgu Ali Yusri, Head of Special Education Unit, Ministry of Education. The moderator for the panel discussion was Rasyidah Samah, the Project Leader for Uniklearn. 

During his speech, Yang Berhormat Major General (B) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan mentioned that although the youth of this nation are advancing, the youth and fresh graduates still face the problem of unemployment. According to him, we can mitigate the problem together with the whole of the nation and government approach and embracing the borderless world we live in today, while taking pride in MIB and sharing it to the rest of the world.
Some of the issues exchanged between the audience and the panelists were on how to stay practical and pragmatic in chasing their dreams and goals, as well as making the best out of their free times with some industry experiences such as internships and volunteering experiences. In addition, matters regarding how to embrace globalization without losing MIB and how to empower a generation and community were talked about during a question and answer session.

Prior to the panel discussion that afternoon, a forum was also held in the morning involving Brunei society leaders in the UK and the high council of BSU, to promote better communication and coordination among all students in the UK through their representative. ​
