On 20th April 2019, the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire (BSU) 2018/19 Council organised the annual elections for the next council in London, United Kingdom. However, the council failed to elect a president as the society leaders wished to reopen elections for the role of the President.

Hence, Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire are re - opening applicants for 2019/2020 for the role of president. Interested applicants must submit their nomination form and other relevant documents by 14th July 2019.

​The role of the President of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire are as follows: 

1. Shall be the head of the Union.
2. Shall be the spokesperson of the Union. 
3. Shall preside at Council and Union Meetings
4. Shall ultimately be responsible for the Union's finances
5. Shall be the main link for Union interactions with other bodies and organisations

    Application to the council

    As its is only President which is being re-opened, nominees have no choice but to apply only for this role and this role only.

    Seconder

    A Seconder is a person that endorses the nomination. The backing of at least one seconder is required for nominees to run for president of the Brunei Students' Union in the United Kingdom and Eire.

    Candidate Manifesto of the nominee

    Any details submitted in this section will be used in your manifesto. Your manifesto will be displayed on the day of election. It is required to provide in as much detail as possible.

    Elections: Preparations and other information

    All nominees must prepare a speech to give on election day. The speeches should last a maximum of 5 minutes. After the candidate has delivered his/her speech, this will be followed by a 10 minute question and answer session by the Brunei Students' Union in The United Kingdom and Eire and the society leaders in attendance. 
    The Re - elections will take place on Monday, 22nd July 2019. It is highly encouraged for you to attend the Re - elections as a nominee. The exact time, venue and itinerary of the event will be confirmed in an infopack e-mailed to you closer to the day of the event.
    Nominees are also advised to wear smart business attire on the day of the event.

    Absence during the re-elections

    Nominees unable to attend must prepare a 4-minute video or audio recording of their speech and send it to Adli Razak, the Information Secretary via email at information.secretary@bsunion.org (cc:vp.admin@bsunion.org). The video submitted must be a one-shot take. Strictly no editing is allowed. This will be played during elections. Absent nominees will also have their profiles displayed
