INTRODUCTION: BELIA BERWAWASAN MENDUKUNG KEMAJUAN NEGARA

The theme for this year’s Majlis Bersama Rakyat focuses on the importance of the youth’s contribution to Brunei’s development.

This includes the youth’s role in being an essential asset to realise Brunei’s 2035 Vision, emphasising on the need for active participation and maximising their contribution to bring the country on par with developed countries. Hence, the nation are willing to largely invest in education, which includes sending students to study abroad in hopes of creating highly educated, capable, innovative and creative youth to contribute and be a benefit to the society and the country in the future.


However, outstanding and quality youth are not solely those who are well educated and highly skilled but should also have a firm Bruneian identity, is loyal/faithful to the country, strong/tough/resilient, able to compete in this world that is increasingly competitive and challenging. It has become a collective/consensual responsibility/obligation to raise awareness amongst the youth to take part and unite, working towards the development and progress of the country that has always been envisioned.  

The theme comprises the aims of Brunei Vision 2035 as follows :
  1. To acknowledge the accomplishments of its well-educated and highly-skilled people as measured by the highest international standard;
  2. ​To improve the quality of life of the country’s people that is among the Top 10 nations in the world; and
  3. To create a dynamic and sustainable economy with income per capita within the Top 10 countries in the world.

To accomplish the above goals, thirteen (13) strategies have been identified as follows :

  1. Education
  2. Economic
  3. Security
  4. Institutional Development
  5. Local Business Development
  6. Infrastructure Development
  7. Social Security
  8. Environmental
  9. Health
  10. Religion
  11. Land use
  12. Infrastructure and Info-Communication Technology
  13. Manpower planning​​

Therefore, the government has put hope in the students to contribute back to the country through one of the 13 strategies mentioned above with relation to each student’s course.

OBJECTIVES

1. To involve many participants among the students in supporting the activities organised by BSUnion;
2. To foster the spirit of cooperation among the students in United Kingdom and Ireland;
3. To promote the value of creativity among students; and
​
4. To build a patriotic spirit and love towards the country through the Product.


​REGISTRATION

​Registration must be submitted to The Brunei Students’ Union in United Kingdom and Eire (BSUnion) latest 5th July 2019, 11.59 pm.


    STEP 1: YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS

    e.g Newcastle University
    e.g 2nd Year in BA (Hons) Urban Planning

    STEP 2: PROVIDING A BACKGROUND AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF YOUR WORK

    Participants are required to give a background and a description of your work, which includes choice of patterns and colours and; how the design relates to the theme 'Belia Berwawasan Mendukung Kemajuan Negara' or ' Visionary Youth Supporting Nation’s Progress'. This can either be done by filling in the text below or by uploading a document (in either word format or pdf) which gives a brief description of your work. 
    Maximum word count : 300 words
    Max file size: 20MB

    STEP 3: SUBMITTING YOUR ENTRY

    Participants must prepare a 3D plan blueprint to showcase their design to the Brunei Students' Union and the dimensions of the design should be at least be more than an A4 size but not more than an A3 size. This can be done either by using AutoCAD Software, Photoshop / illustration, Drawing, model. Participants can submit their design by either uploading the file on the link down below. However, if the size of the file is too big, another option is that you can instead email your file to the Information Secretary of the Brunei Students' Union by email at information.secretary@bsunion.org (cc:president@bsunion.org).

    STEP 4: TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    Participants must agree with the Terms and Conditions stated below: 
    ​
    1. Participants must be a student that is currently studying in the United Kingdom and Ireland;
    2. Participants must be a citizen of Negara Brunei Darussalam;
    3. Design must be suitable to the theme. The theme is 'Belia Berwawasan Mendukung Kemajuan Negara';
    4. Design must be of your own work and not a copy that has been produced by any individuals or associations;
    5. Participants must include the background and description of the design including the choice of pattern and colour;
    6. Design dimensions must not be less than A4 size and not more than A3 size;
    7. Participants must provide a 3 dimensional plan (blueprint 3D) whether using Software AutoCAD, Photoshop/illustration, drawing or model and submit it to the organiser; and
    8. The work cannot be signed (watermark, signature, identification sign).
    9.  Winner of the competition will automatically be producing this design as the pesambah Majis Bersama Rakyat 2019 with advice and guidance made by respective authorities ; and 
    10. The design of the participant will be the proprietary rights of the organizer.
    11. The organising committee have the right to make any changes on the designs/entries of the winners.
    12. The organising committee also have the right to choose not the entries that won to be made as a gift.
    13. The organising committee also have the right to choose other entries to be made as a gift.
